Holiday Party Style:Blue

Happy weekend my dear friends.

Today, I am sharing another holiday inspired look.

Blue is my favorite color and I believe it is an easy color to wear in any season. I love gold accessories and it was easy to add them on to this look as a highlight against the dark color.

Holiday Party Style

Happy Friday and I just want to say “thank you” to everyone that visited the blog while I was away. I apologize for the unannounced break. It’s good to be back and I am going to be working on getting back on track.

The first thing I think of when I think royalty is gold, so I already knew whatever I got had to have gold in it. But it was love at first wear with this maxi red dress so the gold had to stick to being my accessories.

Styling A Printed Skirt

Ahhhh this print!!! This is my favorite printed skirt ever. This other skirt (here) used to be my favorite because of it’s waist trimming effect but the chevron print on this beats anything. I promised to restyle the skirt in spring when i first showed it off in this post (here), so here is another look at this beauty.
You might notice that I have two different hairstyles, and that is because I changed the style in the middle of the shoot. My plan was to wear big hair that day but I noticed that the hair looked a little too big. I love big hair, (I am always on the “big hair, don’t care” team lol) but I need my hair on the quiet side for this look. I need the focus to be on my outfit, not the large afro (I know it’s hard not to notice the fro anyway).
One of the key things when styling a look is to decide what and where you want the focus on. There are times you create a look in which every piece from head to toe is attention grabbing and you step out in your diva mode but then again there are times when you want it to be all about just one piece, that could be your hair, a gorgeous hand beaded top, or your hot color block heels. So to properly direct your audience’s (peep my word choice lol)focus, you you highlight the piece to display.
(my lipstick – here)
So, to my outfit, I decided to pair my skirt with one of the colors on the print. I love all the colors so the deciding factor was the most unique – which was the mustard. I have a crush on the color but i dont get to see it often in the stores. This vintage like shirt is actually from a thrift store. I rolled up the sleeves to add a relaxed vibe to the look and so i dont look like I was swallowed since the shirt and the hair already covered most parts of me lol
Here is a closer look at the detail on the seam.

Floral and Lace for Spring

I don’t think anyone can go through the whole spring season without styling a pretty lace piece. In this post, i decided to pair the must have lace trend with the number one trend of every spring season – Floral.

It was somewhat cold on the day i wore this outfit so i decided to keep warm in a fur jacket which i consider trendy. I selected this piece because i believe it is stylish and light enough for a spring look and definitely warm enough for a chilly day.

My skirt was a gift, courtesy of an Asian online boutique CNDirect. They have the lowest prices I think I have seen so far and the skirt is of high quality too. Sincerely, I wasn’t too sure while placing the order because I thought it was so cheap but I am glad to say I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. The only problem I think a few people might have is with the shipping cost, there is no free shipping and it goes by weight. But if you do the calculation, the total price still gets to be much lesser than other places who might offer free shipping even for similar items.

How To Wear “All-Black” In Spring

Two simple ways to style an all black outfit without looking like a throwback to fall or winter is to show some skin – choose cut-out pieces, and add some studs to the clothing!
Spring is basically synonymous with colors, bright, floral etc but that doesn’t mean we can’t wear something outside of that theme. I am a die-hard fan(for lack of a better phrase) for all black outfits so it is an all year round look for me that defiles season. But I can’t go about looking like I was out of touch with the current times; I still have to stay on trend while being myself and living in my own style world. Thanks to this cut out (cold-shoulder), studded sweater, I get to achieve this.
It might be spring but it’s still a little chilly in NYC so I have to keep my jacket close.
